Michael McCarthy has been exhibiting his "dog" art for several years
throughout the country. Major exhibits have ranged from New Jersey restaurants to
galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Large private collections of his canine
portrayals reside on the sunny islands of Bermuda and Martha's Vineyard.
Born and raised in New York City, Michael now lives in Denville, NJ with his spouse, Brian
and their four-legged child, Quaid; a four-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
The mediums Michael works with are large acrylic canvases, pen and ink on parchment and most recently, silk painting.
"I painted dogs originally out of the fact that I could not have one in my apartment. The paintings would keep my spirits up
when I was alone," Michael says "now it is a labor of love and surely
beats psychotherapy."
