Jan Truslow's portraits communicate her sense of style and illustrate her
realization of the different peronalities in the canine world. She works
from photographs taken by the dog owner and impressionistically brings them
to life in acrylic on canvas.
Jan was born and raised in Statesville, NC and attended the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a BA in English. So after,
she moved to New York City to work in the fashion industry. She married and
moved to Connecticut. Jan had her first child and also brought a Springer
Spaniel, Savannah, into the family's life. Savannah inspired her first
portrait and painting proved to be very therapeutic for a stay at home mom.
Since this beginning, friends and family have been her earliest fans, and,
many portraits later, Jan has found a true love for painting these complex
and beautiful companions.
Jan and her family currently live in Montclair with their Corgi, Norman, and
their newest Spinger puppy, Linus.
